Masumi Higashide

Masumi Higashide was born and educated in Japan. She received her first musical training on Piano at age of 10, later she started to play the horn age of 13 and studied with Mr. Koichi Noda, former Principal Horn of Kyoto Symphony Orchestra.

Higashide furthered her study at Aichi University of the Arts with Mr. Yoshio Ohno, former Horn player of NHK Symphony Orchestra and graduated in 1999. She also studied horn privately under Mr. Francis Orval and Mr. Gert Seifert. She has joined Pacific Music Festival (PMF) in summer of 2002 where she studied horn with Mr. Günter Högner, former Horn player of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Mr. John Ziebel, Principal Horn of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

As soloist she has performed Konzertstück for 4 Horns by Schumann with The Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Wind Orchestra in 2007 and Introduction and Main Event for Four Horns and Band by Kerry Turner with The Hong Kong APA Concert Band in 2008.

From 2000-2003, Masumi Higashide was Second/Forth Horn player of Chubu Philharmonic Orchestra. She has been a Second Horn player of Hong Kong Sinfonietta since 2003 September.
